The marketing, media, and creative industries have contributed significantly to the sustainability crisis we face today, but they also have the potential to drive sustainable solutions. The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) offers an online short course for professionals to gain skills and strategies to drive sustainable practices. The eight-week Sustainable Marketing, Media, and Creative course aims to inspire positive change and re-align these industries' purpose towards supporting long-term well-being for people and the planet.
Through the course, participants will gain a heightened awareness of marketing's impact on people and the environment, its influence on human behaviours and identities, and engage in discussions on growth, greenwashing, and consumption. Enrolling in the course allows professionals to connect with a global cohort of industry pioneers committed to driving sustainable practices. With guidance from faculty and industry experts, participants will unlock practical strategies to drive transition and transformation in their sphere of influence.
Upon completing the course, participants will have a practical Strategy for Action, setting them up to challenge the status quo and assume their place at the forefront of sustainable change.
This course is certified by the United Kingdom CPD Certification Service, and may be applicable to individuals who are members of, or are associated with, UK-based professional bodies. The course has an estimated 75 hours of learning.

“I really enjoyed the [macro to micro] structure of this course. It helped me better understand the larger context of the sustainability issues we are facing, and marketing's role in it. [The course] provided me with new perspectives, knowledge and tools for understanding how to tackle these issues, and ended with profound self-reflection – making sure I know exactly what actions I need to take to apply learnings from this course into my personal and professional life. I really enjoyed the peer-to-peer discussions, as well as the weekly assignment. Every exercise had a clear purpose and really pushed me to reflect on my weekly learnings and apply them to my personal context and real-life examples.”
