World Economic Forum (Apr, 2023).
Duration: 6 weeks (excluding orientation)
Effective negotiation skills are crucial to success in any industry or organisation. Great negotiators achieve results and enhance relationships by planning and tailoring their approach to the specific context rather than acting on impulse.
The highly interactive Negotiation Programme from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) enables you to reach your potential as a negotiator and enhance your business impact. Practise real-world scenarios with professionals from the UK and further afield in live online negotiations, where you’ll apply proven negotiation techniques in a digital environment. Over the course of six weeks, you’ll analyse different approaches to negotiating based on the communication channel, and investigate the impact of culture, power, and influence in negotiation. Finally, using expert insight and peer feedback, you’ll create a development plan to identify your personal negotiation style and provide an active record of your improvement.
Live online negotiation sessions will be between one-and-a-half to two hours long. You'll be able to indicate your time-slot preference for these sessions based on your time zone and schedule.
Is this course for you?
This six-week course is suitable for any professional interested in developing their strategic negotiation skills and confidence to become more influential, persuasive, and impactful. The skills you’ll gain are applicable across a broad range of industries and business functions.
The practical strategies and tools you’ll explore during this course on negotiation are relevant to both your current and future career. Novice negotiators will gain knowledge of new skills and techniques, while those with more experience will have the opportunity to hone their skills through an increased understanding of negotiation strategies and additional practice in live negotiation sessions. If you’re a professional, entrepreneur, or business owner who interacts with stakeholders, you’ll benefit from the practical nature of this negotiation course.
This course is certified by the United Kingdom CPD Certification Service, and may be applicable to individuals who are members of, or are associated with, UK-based professional bodies. The course has an estimated 50 hours of learning.
Note: should you wish to claim CPD activity, the onus is upon you. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and GetSmarter accept no responsibility, and cannot be held responsible, for the claiming or validation of hours or points.

What past students
think
Valeria Vacchiano
Manager of Commercial Negotiations Department, Eni S.p.A.
My overall impression of the course content is absolutely positive. I was forced to analyse my strengths and weaknesses in detail, and test myself in negotiations exercises. This helped me to understand what I have to focus on in the future. The online experience was positive too, helping me to follow the course during my spare time. I am more conscious of negotiation tactics and how to improve my negotiation skills. I also had the chance to exchange opinions with my classmates, and it was also an opportunity to share opinions and approaches among different cultures.
