Meet Your Classmates: Oxford Algorithmic Trading Programme
The Oxford Algorithmic Trading Programme, from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, is a 6-week programme, entirely online.
It guides business leaders through the field of algorithmic trading by equipping them with relevant skills and strategies needed to create and evaluate algorithmic trading models. This helps them to stay ahead of the curve of current and future trends in the algorithmic trading sector, and understand the technologies used to facilitate its growth.
In joining the programme, you’ll become part of a cohort of like-minded professionals, and earn a certificate of attendance from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford as validation of your newfound understanding and knowledge of algorithmic trading.

Jose Antonio Ortiz Contreras

What would you say are your most interesting or noteworthy achievements, professionally?
Having excelled in all my roles at JPMorgan as (in chronological order): Treasurer and Liquidity Risk Manager, Proprietary Trader / Portfolio Manager, Exotics/Derivatives Structurer, and as Operational Risk Manager currently (in charge of Brexit Implementation Programme).
Why did you choose to take this programme?
Oxford Alumni (did MSc in Mathematical Finance at the Mathematics Institute), and desire to refresh Algo Trading knowledge.
What are you looking forward to most about the programme?
I’m in the middle of a transition in my career, returning to Trading/Investing, more from a Quant approach (also engaging in various Machine Learning Courses).
What message would you like to give to your future classmates and support network? I’m willing to collaborate, help and connect as much as I can. We all can use finance to serve society better.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Change in professional career professionally. Personally, I’m trying to adopt a baby girl from Ethiopia as a single dad, reason why, after 15+ years, I relocated recently from the UK.

The creation and development of the companies I work for, feel quite proud of what we have done.
Why did you choose to take this programme?
I chose this programme because I love trading and this is what I do for a living. I always want to learn more and more.

I expect to learn about the algorithms and create automatic new ones with my strategies.

My crowning achievement is still a work in progress, but I have been trading since 12, and have recently embarked on algorithmic trading.
