November 2019
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) hosted its latest online certificate course alumni networking event in November 2019, which featured a thought-provoking lecture and Q&A session with Professor Stephan Chambers, director of LSE’s Marshall Institute.
The lecture explored the myths around balancing ‘Purpose and Profit’ – a topic central to current debates about business, markets, and the firm. During the lecture, Chambers encouraged participants to discuss and unpack the concept of putting social purpose at the heart of business and leadership.
Chambers is also the Professor in Practice at the Department of Management at LSE and course director for the new Executive Masters in Social Business and Entrepreneurship. He was integral in the formation of the University of Oxford’s MBA, which he directed from 2000 to 2014. At LSE, Chambers teaches entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial finance.
These events enable online learners to visit the LSE campus – the heart of world-leading social science research and thought-leadership. Participants enjoy the opportunity to reconnect with fellow classmates or network with learners from other online courses. Upon successful course completion, students also have the opportunity to join the LSE Online Certificate Course Alumni Network LinkedIn group to keep in touch with one another and share news, thoughts and ideas.
