Carlos, who is currently studying the University of Cape Town Human Resource (HR) Management online short course, was chosen by our Student Success Team for being an impressive participator in the online discussions and adding value to the group forums through his questions and comments.
Here is what he has to say about his experience:
Why did you decide to take the UCT online short course with GetSmarter?
I chose to do the HRM course for two reasons. I want to start my own business one day so I want to properly manage my employees and, from a personal experience in bad management, I wanted to know that I am making a change.
What were your concerns before enrolling in the UCT Human Resource Management course? How were your concerns alleviated and why?
I was concerned that I will not be able to fit the course work in with my school work. I noticed that our time and course material is so well balanced that you can’t get concerned about finishing your course material because you have an awesome Success Manager that guides you all the way!
What aspects are you enjoying about learning online with GetSmarter?
I really enjoy the feeling of freedom. I am able to do my coursework whenever I want and wherever I want. I also enjoy the fact that you get so much support from your Head Tutor.
How do you plan to use the skills you learnt on this course in your career?
Well, I want to use my knowledge in my own business one day.
What does it mean to you to earn a UCT certificate?
UCT is the best to me. It means that the certificate means so much more than any other university’s.
Will you be displaying your certificate?
Yes! Totally, I am going to advertise my certificate in my home and on my CV and social media.
Our Student Success Team identified you as being an outstanding student. Why do you think you are a Notable Achiever and what advice can you give to others looking to do this course?
Well, I think I was seen as a Notable Achiever for the fact that I listened to John, our head tutor. He said in the orientation module, “what you put in this course is what you will get out of it.” I only gave it my 100%.
